Acorn Calendar Numbers Free Printable

Add these acorn calendar numbers to your collection of classroom calendar numbers this fall. You can use them for your linear or traditional calendar. AND they’re perfect for practicing important early math skills with young children.

The acorn number cards have so many uses, and they’re very low-prep. Which is a win-win in my book! I think they’d be a great addition to your fall activities for preschoolers and kindergarten kids. They’d be great during a leaf, tree, or squirrel theme too.

I enjoy using number cards like these because they add a little touch of whimsy to math activities for preschoolers and kindergartners. Changing things up a little bit makes things interesting for the kids, which tends to up their engagement and interest.

Acorn Calendar Numbers

Below you’ll find some tips for getting the acorn numbers ready to go, as well as some suggestions for using them with your students. Keep in mind that these are just suggestions and ideas to get you started.

You and your students might find some new ways to play with the numbered acorns, and that is perfectly fine! Just be sure to let me know your new ideas so I can try them out, too!

How to Prep the Acorn Number Cards

First, get your hands on the supplies needed. You don’t need much to get the acorn calendar numbers prepped and ready to go. Here’s what we used (I may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post):

• Printer
• Scissors (or paper cutter)
• Laminator and laminating sheets

Once you have those materials, grab anything else you’d like to use with the acorn numbers. Here are some ideas:

• Real or fake acorns
• Brown pompoms
• Math manipulatives (like Unifix Cubes)
• Brown buttons
• Acorn mini erasers
• Small squirrel toys

After you have all of your supplies, it’s time to prep the numbered acorns. There’s not much to it! First, get the free printable numbers at the bottom of this post. Open the file in the most up-to-date version of Adobe Reader.

Print the calendar numbers, making extra copies as needed. Cut the cards apart and laminate them. And now you’re ready to go!

Using the Acorn Calendar Numbers with Kids

As I mentioned earlier, you can use the acorn numbers in so many different ways. I love making and using printables that have multiple uses! Here are some ideas to get you started:

• Put the numbered acorns in your calendar this fall! They can be used with both traditional and linear classroom calendars. And they should fit many pocket chart calendars. The cards are 3-inch squares, but you can adjust your printer settings if you need a different size.

• Pair the acorns with another set of numbers, like our pumpkin calendar numbers. I’m finishing up a set of squirrel numbers, and those would be perfect with the acorns. Use the two sets to practice patterning with your students.

• Challenge the kids to put the numbers in order from 0 to 35. Once they can do that, see if the children can go in reverse numerical order, too.

• Make a simple sensory writing tray by placing sand in a shallow dish. Have the children practice writing numbers, using the acorn calendar numbers as visual cues.

• Use the cards to measure how far the kids can toss an acorn. Depending on how far they throw, you might need an extra set of numbers.

• Set out math manipulatives or loose parts alongside the acorn numbers. Let the kids practice one-to-one correspondence by placing the appropriate number of items next to each numbered acorn.

• Make two copies of the acorn cards and set up a simple Memory-like grid game. The kids can take turns trying to match up two of the same numbers.

You’ll have to let me know your favorite way to use the acorn calendar numbers in your classroom! I only listed about 7 ideas, but there are countless others.
