Evernote

is also a great alternative. I have the basic one but they also have a pro version with a lot more features. What I love about Evernote is that it has an amazing search capability. I love that I can tag something how it makes sense to me and then easily find it. In the advanced versions, you can upload voice notes, photos, audio clips, and synching of multiple items.

for mind mapping allows you to brainstorm ideas and be creative.
