Sarah Sherman Samuel Wants to Help Upgrade Your IKEA Cabinets
To celebrate the launch of Semihandmade’s new collection, we’re giving away $1,000 to shop the line—head to our Reno Notebook Instagram account to enter.
You don’t need to shell out huge sums of money to get your dream kitchen. Sometimes all it takes is a little facelift, starting with revamping your storage. Semihandmade has been helping renovators spice up their store-bought cabinets since 2011—and the brand just teamed up with Sarah Sherman Samuel for a second time to put a designer spin on the IKEA hack.
The Quarterline collection includes all the same versatile hues from the first launch. Choose from colors that pop, like dusty blue and blush pink, or stick with the classics; Samuel’s favorite shade is Desert Gray, an elevated taupe that will warm up any nook.

As for the style, fans of the designer will recognize a similar Shaker inspiration from her first Semihandmade line—this time with a contemporary twist. “I wanted to push the versatility even further by streamlining it with more minimal dimensions,” explains Samuel. The result: a modern take on tradition, which works with every aesthetic, from rustic farmhouse to crisp Scandinavian. It’s all in the styling.
For her part, Samuel has already used the Quarterline fronts to upgrade a Besta unit media cabinet and a pale blue toy credenza in her son’s room. Her next DIY project: giving her guest bathroom Godmorgon vanity a refresh with sleek new doors. No sledgehammer required.
